2nd Annual To Define Is To Limit Recap

What a fun showing. Thanks to all of you that rolled through. Was fun meeting and chatting with you. We appreciate your support so much. A special thanks to Todd Bearden (owner of Paradigm) for backing me up for the 2nd year in a row...and letting us invade his shop! He really helps make it happen. Cool thing about this year was some of the guys salvaged a rail from UTF after it was demolished. Todd's idea was to anchor it from the ceiling to display the skate deck art. Looks so rad. Thanks also to Video Destroyer who did music/video art. You rock!
The artwork from each artist is incredible. We've got some amazing talent in this city. So proud. Thanks guys!! The showing runs through September 20th, so get down to Paradigm and check it out up close. There were a few decks already a sold today. Paradigm also stocked with supplies for your skating needs.

Until next year!

A FEW THANK YOUS...

Friday's showing was such a fun night and I need to send out a few thanks!
First of all to Patty at The Baby Bar for letting me show my work once again. Her support for local art is tremendous. She's such an amazing woman and I'm happy to know her.
Also, DJ Kain Bridge One who's da man! He continually sets the atmosphere and mood with his live music.
And of course all you wonderful, rad, beautiful people who came out and hung with me. I loved seeing your faces, sitting with you, having some pleasurable drinks, talking, and laughing. I'm grateful for you all. Being with you really made my night.
Now, I shot a roll of film, so once I get it developed, I'll be posting some photos...soonish.
Show Me The Gold will be up and running through the month of May, so even if you missed Friday, you can still swing by and check it out anytime Monday-Saturday. 5pm-on.

Boards With History

July, 2013
PART II

I get my skate decks used from a local pop skate shop, sand them down, but still leaving a few grooves from tricks the skater did on the board. I love the fact that these boards have visited a lot places, rad spots, have performed some amazing tricks, and some amazing falls too. This is the reason I call these "Boards With History". A very nostalgic thought and connection for me in particular. Plus the boards get a second chance at being reincarnated as art pieces.
When someone purchases one of my skateboards, they also get a little history underneath the artwork.

-Amia

A couple of years ago a friend gave me this little refrigerator magnet. It says, over the background of one of Jackson Pollock's drip paintings, "Never Apologize For Your Art." I love this quote and I look at it every time I open my refrigerator door. Very encouraging. Now all that to say this. I will never apologize for my art. BUT. I will let someone know when I think it sucks or I executed it poorly from my mind to the canvas as I felt I did on this piece, Fryerstarter. I wasn't happy with it from the finish and after finally getting some time to sand down the red sphere and redo Bob's Donuts in a simple fresh font... I am happy. And as my hero Jackson Pollock once said, "Sometimes I lose a painting. But I have no fear of changes, of destroying the image, because a painting has a life of its own. I kind of let it live."

So I've been back in the 'studio' which consists of
where ever I can lay my artwork. I've been
working on a new board design that I thought
you might like to see as it progressed in
increments of time during these past couple
of weeks.

The basic reference to this board is based on
one of Aesop Rock's songs, Fryerstarter, from
his new album Skelethon which is so good by
the way.
