2013 Where's The Gold!?
These past couple of weeks I've caught a few episodes of "Gold Rush" on Netflix and it's really intrigued me. As I sit here in the last couple of hours in retrospect of 2012, one simple thing keeps coming to mind in light of the New Year...
However 2012 turned out for us, let's keep the gold (the good) for 2013 and leave the things not usable behind. I really hope the best for you in the New Year to come. Thanks so much for all your support and friendship (old and new). I really appreciate it.
I wish the best for you my friends.
Happy New Year!

TOP 17 IN 10
This week I've been thinking about how powerful music is and how certain albums can reach out, grab you, turn you upside down, and shake the change out of your pockets. In other words have an impact on us or set as a memorial...marking a specific time period in our lives. Growing up as a young person, I was exposed to a broad genre of music and developed a real love for many different bands. I'm so grateful for that because I could never see myself identifying with only one style. With that said, I thought I'd make a list of not just the albums that have had an impact on myself and my artwork, but albums that I loved each and every song on and literally drove them into the ground listening to them. Currently, Aesop Rock's Skelethon has been on repeat! I decided to do a top 10 from the past 10 years, but quickly realized it was more like top 17. Good stuff. What are yours!?

Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton/ Stones Throw Records
So I entered a design for Stones Throw Records poster contest, "Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton" which will be a feature-length documentary about avant-garde Los Angeles-based Stones Throw Records, its culture, and its enigmatic artists. You can check it out on the link below. If you're a Spokane native you'll also know that our very own beloved James Pants is with the label as well as a lot of other great artists. The winner chosen will have their design used for the film's posters and possibly the new DVD cover.

They are a tremendous pair who have supported Spokane's music, skate and art scene for many many years. We love you Christi and Mike! (Christi actually won the raffle for Kirsten's painting in the background!).

Laszlo Moholy-Nagy
You know, there are a lot of artists whom I totally respect and admire both locally and in the bigger scheme of things in the art world, but few and far between are there artists (both visually and musically... that's another future blog) that literally grab me and turn my insides out. Something happens on a level that I completely connect with visually, emotionally...even spiritually, and I find it very intriguing I've discovered some of these artists years after their death. Laszlo Moholy-Nagy being 66 years after his death. It amazes me how our lives have an affect on others and ripples throughout history like a rock thrown into a pond, rippling out, touching the lives of others in a new generation. A distant future. There is no other way I can explain it, yet I am eternally grateful how I've been influenced by others. That being said, I introduce to you Mr. Laszlo Mohloy-Nagy, Hungarian/American (1895-1946). Artist proficient and innovative in Photography, Painting, typography, sculpture, printmaking, industrial design and film.
